The Illinois Department of Financial & Professional Regulation (IDFPR) has published a number of resources to help those applicants seeking to obtain a provisional Adult-Use Dispensing Organization license, such as:
- General Frequently Asked Questions
- Details on Social Equity Requirements
- Applicant Q&A
- Provisional Application
Applications for a Conditional Adult Use Dispensing Organization License will be due no later than January 1, 2020.
The IDFPR will award “Conditional Adult Use Dispensing Organization Licenses" on or before May 1, 2020. These conditional licenses do not entitle the holder to purchase or sell cannabis. Once awarded, the license holder has 180 days to find a location within its assigned BLS Region (47 licenses in Chicago-Elgin-Naperville) to operate. After the Conditional Adult Use Dispensing Organization License holder has found a suitable location, passed an inspection by the Department, and paid its registration fee, the Department will award the license holder an Adult Use Dispensing Organization License, which authorizes the holder to obtain and sell cannabis legally pursuant to the Cannabis and Regulation Tax Act.
Interested applicants with additional questions should contact the IDFPR here.
The Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) is responsible for assisting Social Equity applicants on everything from creating a business plan to applying for a license. Please email the DCEO to learn where you can get assistance completing your application.
